I stared at the flames that had erupted in my sight. The anger turning to visible flames. My ribs felt bound in ropes, my mouth pressed together as tightly as I could force it, teeth grinding into one another.

I glared at the lawyer, thinking so many words I couldn’t use. I wanted to yell, jump, demand, insist, but all those things only served to show I lost my cool. I closed my eyes, too a deep breath.

“Renee? Can you answer?” The judge asked softly.

“I am sorry sir. I was trying to find his question.” I ground out.
