WonHundred Word Wednesday:

“The Devil’s name was Fred.”

He was leafy, green and I called him that to make myself feel better about not wanting to eat him because not eating things with names was a social norm.

I pushed the oddly shaped salad around my plate. “Isn’t salad supposed to be green?”

He looked up, his dark eyes amused. “No. other colored food is good for you Sharyn.”

“No. Red salad’s weird and it’s bitter.”

He chuckled. “Have you named your food so as not to eat it?”

                “Yes. I named it.”

                “What have you called it?”

I met his eyes. “Fred. I named it Fred.”
